Mission Statement:to equip children to be informed, confident, life long learners.

He aha te mea nui o te ao?
He tangata! He tangata! He tangata!
Environmental Sustainability: Tapora School has been actively involved with sustaining our environment by supporting the Trees for Survival Programme, Kiwi Restoration Programme and Atiu Creek Reserve Tree Planting Programme. Both the Trees for Survival planting day and Atiu Reserve tree planting days are scheduled for this term.
Atiu Tree Planting Friday 13th August: The whole school will be involved with planting at Atiu Reserve. The children will travel to school as normal. They will then be transported to Atiu Reserve by school bus, 9:45am and transported back to school by 2pm. Lunch is provided by ARC, however, children will still need to bring their own drink bottles and morning snacks.
Parents, please note that planting day means a lot of dirty (muddy) clothing and footwear, and the children will not be allowed back onto the bus if they are muddy. Therefore, it is essential that a clean set of clothing is packed in the children’s bags.
Essential clothing requirements are as follows:
- Gumboots/old sneakers and a good pair of shoes to put on after planting
- Plastic bag (to place dirty clothing and shoes into)
- A complete clean set of clothing to change into after planting.
- Warm head wear
POSTPONEMENT DAY: Atiu Park Ranger, Mr Brett Wilson, is keeping abreast of the weather forecast. If the weather outlook for Friday 13th August does not look promising, this day will be postponed until Friday, 27th August. All parents and children will be notified of any date changes by Wednesday 11th August.
BUS BEHAVIOUR: Overall, the behaviour on the bus for Term 2 up to week 3 of Term 3, has been good. This is mainly through the diligence of the school, parents, bus companies and children. There are however, isolated incidents which lead to reprimands and last week led to delay in the bus departure. This is not acceptable and the parents of these students have been notified. A reminder to parents, that students must accept responsibility for their behaviour on the bus and the failure to do so will lead to exclusion from the bus.

Starfish Magic
This month Rodney Libraries and Starfish Magic present:
The Pied Popstar – a series of performance workshops for children. The show features dancing singing costumes and live music and promises to be lots of fun for children aged three to ten and their families.
Due to a lack of space at Wellsford Library the workshop will be held at the Wellsford Community Centre on Friday 13th August 2010.
The workshop starts at 3.45 and runs for an hour. The session is free and you do not have to register in advance.
